College and Career Readiness Plan (CCRP) Program of Study: (CCTE) Architectural Design
Year long course/1.0 credit per semester
In Advanced Architectural Design, students gain knowledge and skills specific to those needed to enter a career in architecture and construction or prepare a foundation toward a postsecondary degree in architecture, construction science, drafting, interior design, and landscape architecture. This course includes the knowledge of the design, techniques, and specific tools related to the field of architecture. Students will learn Computer-Aided Drafting & Design (CADD) software related for the production of detailed working drawings, renderings, and scaled models for residential or commercial architectural purposes. The emphasis of this course is on light frame construction methods.
Upon successful completion of this course, students may have the opportunity to test and obtain an Autodesk Revit® Industry Certification.

Year long course/1.0 credit per semester
This course prepares students for more advanced technical instruction in architectural design. Students will produce portfolios to present for job opportunities, scholarships, and college applications. Students will have the opportunity to participate in various competitions including SkillsUSA, the El Paso Asso. of Builders and Remodelors’ ‘Young Designers’ Competition, and the National Asso. of Women in Construction’s ‘National Educational Foundation CADD/Design’ Competition. Opportunities for freelance work and internships are assigned according to students’ abilities and clients’ needs.
Upon successful completion of this course, students may have the opportunity to test and obtain an Autodesk Revit® Industry Certification. The cost of each exam is $50.
