College and Career Readiness Plan (CCRP) Program of Study: (CCTE) Animation

First Year: Animation: HT3C00Y2

Year long course/1.0 credit per semester

Careers in animation span all aspects of motion graphics and design. Students will gain an understanding of the simulation and animation software industry and how it interacts with other industries. They will also learn basic scripting, visual design principles, and animation methods used in animation technology. The first year of this course prepares students to develop 2D animations, environments, characters, and interactive videos. The course also prepares the students for the Adobe Certified Associate Exam.

Second Year: Advanced Animation: HT4C10Y2

Year long course/1.0 credit per semester

This course expands upon the first year of Animation, introducing the students to 3D Animation in Autodesk's 3DS Max Design. Emphasis is on proper modeling techniques, low polygon count models and environments, lighting, materials, and texturing. Students will learn camera and lighting techniques and how animation applies to the video game and movie industry. This course also prepares students for the 3DS Max Design Certification.
